National Fraud Authority newsletter, Winter 2011/12
Following its move to the Home Office, The NFA newsletter contains an introduction from James Brokenshire, minister for crime and security, setting out the importance attached to fighting fraud, especially in tackling the increased presence and economic damage caused by national and international fraud operators.
There are articles on the NFA's strategic plan, alignment with the Economic Crime Co-ordination Board, strategic work with the National Crime Agency (SOCA) and the City of London Police National Fraud Intelligence Bureau.
On the domestic front, there is the cross-sector strategy to recognise the serious issues fraud poses and highlight joint work with government, voluntary organisations, business and law enforcement to increase awareness, prevention and enforcement. A number of intelligence-sharing hubs will be created to facilitate this objective.
Other articles cover expansion of the Action Fraud reporting service and the needs of small businesses and ID fraud prevention week. An informative and interesting newsletter.
