Holborn Mid-Town BID joins ABCP

Mid-Town covers important business and legal centres, including the Royal Courts of Justice,Inns of Court, top law firms, government offices and theatres just to the north of the City of London. This dynamic area has a vibrant evening economy and is also home to a large residential population.

Gary Reeves, Midtown operations manager said, ‘Mid-Town is a challenging environment because of the changes over the course of 24 hours from the day-time commuters to the many offices and corporations, to the security requirements for government offices, to the evening economy and west end entertainment.

‘The area requires good management of its facilities and the environment, which includes ensuring that visitors, residents and people working here feel safe. We want our business crime partnership to achieve the nationally recognised standard for business crime partnerships so we can work closely with police and other agencies in helping to deliver a safe and clean environment.’

The broad wording would encompass both those providing vital services to the public, such as emergency services personnel, but also those working, for example, as pub staff and shop workers. More...

British Retail Consortium retail crime survey reports a reduction in shop theft.

The British Retail Consortium's (BRC's) Retail Crime Survey 2011, published last Monday shows fewer incidents for many types of crime but each incident on average has been more costly and total losses have increased sharply compared with the previous year. Expenditure on crime prevention by retailers taking part in the survey rose by 1.4 per cent to £214 million, a median spend of £700,000 per company. This has substantially reduced incidents of opportunistic crime, but combating the rise in violent crime retailers and their staff are exposed to requires the support of law makers and enforcers.
