A new partnership joins AABC
Congratulations to Tendring business against crime (Tenbac) which includes Clacton-on-Sea, Harwich and Frinton, the latest partnership to join AABC. The partnership office is located in Clacton police station and is managed by business crime co-ordinator Wenda Primrose and PCSO Lauren Richardson.
The partnership got off to a flying start with its radio scheme, which is monitored by the police and PCSOs. In addition the partnership has purchased the National Business Information System (NBIS) which helps them to manage and analyse their own data and links them to over 80 other partnerships.
Mike Freeman, chairman of Tenbac said "I am please to say that with the invaluable support of William Price at AABC, Tenbac was established in record time, taking just 77 days from forming the limited company to the launch. I believe attention to the detail of the protocols will give our members the confidence to play a full part in Tenbac. In 5 weeks we have gained 49 members covering 92 stores including many household names such as the Co-op and Tesco.
"Through NBIS we have already issued 7 warning letters and 1 exclusion notice, all based on incident reports from our members. The integration of our evening economy is also going ahead with a good relationship established with the local pubwatch. Steering groups for day and night members have been established and there have been presentations by Essex Police on aspects of crime prevention and detection. The next 6 months will include further roll out to our large area and initiatives to work towards self funding once our initial grant aid runs out."
Chief Inspector Jon Hayter said, "Tendring district is now in a position to start tackling those who are a threat to the business community. The efforts and ethos of Tenbac are shared by Tendring police and we are both committed to making a sustainable difference for the business community and making a positive impact on crime and anti-social behaviour that affects people living in and visiting Tendring. NBIS is already proving itself to be an extremely useful tool in the short timew it has only been up and running and the coming months promise to show the scheme becoming more effective as additional members join. I look forward to seeing the results develop and the Tendring area benefit in general."
Co-ordinator Wenda Primrose said “This is really exciting project which we know is going to make things considerably more difficult for thieves”.
