Home Office minister urges support for business crime
The Home Office minister, Alan Campbell, who chairs the National Retail Crime Steering Group, has written to all community safety managers, chief constables, police authorities and others, asking them to take business crime seriously and to consult with business as part of their annual strategic assessments.
He stresses the need to engage with local businesses and states that effective partnership working arrangements with business can also provide additional benefits such as providing data to identify and deter active criminals and help with the terrorism prevention programme.
BCRPs are in the front line of business crime reduction and the letter from the minister provides an opportunity to engage with local CDRPs to ensure that the work of partnerships is recognised and further enhanced as part of the local community safety strategy.
