Brighton & Hove Business Crime Reduction Partnership
Brighton & Hove Business Crime Reduction Partnership has been awarded the prestigious Safer Business Award from Action Against Business Crime, which confirms the city as a safer place for its businesses and shoppers.
The partnership has had to undergo a stringent assessment process to ensure that it operates to nationally recognised standards and to the highest levels of data integrity. The partnership was commended for maintaining a close working relationship between businesses, the police and other agencies both locally and nationally.
The scheme has grown to a membership base approaching 400 with a wide variety of businesses, and is now recognised nationally as a model of good practice. Nigel Liddell NightSafe Manager for the BCRP said, "Members have access to police photographs via the partnership's secure website. Members can file reports via the website, where this information is shared with appropriate agencies and also entered onto the National Business Information System (NBIS), which identifies the most persistent individuals involved in crime and anti-social behaviour.
The BCRP also has a very effective exclusion scheme that prevents the most prolific offenders from entering businesses." Good communication has been key in securing the Safer Business Award which has been highly successful in preventing and detecting crime.
Sandy Hobbs said, ""They have a great team that includes two full-time business crime reduction managers and two administrators. Not only are the membership numbers exemplary but the geographical coverage of the scheme is immense. They have numerous initiatives up and running and enjoy a very close working relationship with their members, the police and many external agencies. "
