Folkestone Area Partnership Against Crime

In May 2002 Folkestone Area Partnership Against Crime (FAPAC) was one of the first business crime reduction partnerships to achieve Safer Shopping status. As a result of continued best practice in business crime prevention as well as maintaining all key targets, the FAPAC once again achieved the AABC Safer Business Award.

This award is a result of much effort by the businesses who are members of FAPAC in keeping crime down in Shepway district. FAPAC members share information, including images, on the National Business Information System, which links towns and shopping centres across the country to identify offenders from other areas as well within Shepway district.

Eloise Hassall, Manager of FAPAC said: ' Our members communicate via radio and warn each other when trouble makers are around. The buddy system means that businesses support each other and have developed a strong retail community spirit which helps to ensure a safer shopping, working, living and visiting environment.

The photograph shows the Hon. Michael Howard, MP, presenting the SBA certificate to Eloise Hassall at a ceremony at The Grand on 10 October 2008. FAPAC is a not-for-profit arm of Folkestone Town Centre Management and is supported by local authorities, police and the business community.
