Aylesbury Retail Against Crime
Aylesbury Retail Against Crime, a partnership made up of town centre retailers, Aylesbury Vale district council and Thames Valley Police, is celebrating its success in securing the Safer Business Award for the second time. The award, given by Action Against Business Crime, recognises the scheme running in Aylesbury meets a nationally recognised standard for business crime partnerships.
The aims of the Aylesbury partnership are to: reduce retail crime in member shops, reduce anti-social behaviour, and help to provide a safe and secure environment for those who live, work and shop in Aylesbury town centre. Police crime figures show that reported thefts from shops in the town centre have fallen year on year since the scheme started.
Roger Simmons, chairman of the retail initiative says ‘The scheme is working really well and we’re delighted to achieve this award again. It proves that thieves are not welcome in Aylesbury, and it helps makes the town a safe environment to visit. We want shoppers to feel safe when they shop here.’ Thames Valley Police Chief Superintendent Richard List is shown receiving the award to Aylesbury Retail Against Crime in Friars Square Management Suite.
